Which protocols does DSMAP support?
DSMAP supports any TCP protocol with the exception of SSL.
Do I need a fixed IP?
No, DSMAP is an outgoing connection to a DSMAP server does not require a fixed or public IP.
Does DSMAP use any extra bandwidth?
DSMAP sends information back to the server on a regular basis however the total bandwidth usage is very low, usually about 10MB in a month.
Is DSMAP secure?
Yes, in order to use a DSMAP connection the connecting party must run the client authentication application, this applet is password secured and all communication is encrypted. Furthermore, DSMAP connections can be restricted to a specific source address range.
Are you breaking my firewall?
No, DSMAP does not require any firewall modifications, DMZ or port mapping and will operate within your current firewall policy.
